Team Profile

Abbas F. Villalon - the Senior Team Leader, Researcher, Interviewer and Writer

“Tender Cheesy Cordon Bleu”

Cheesy as his favorite dish, so are his clichéd jokes. He cracks them out of nowhere and puts uttermost effort to put a smile on our faces; it often works but mostly because of his eagerness despite the embarrassment.

Spiderman once said, “With great power comes great responsibility.” Being the captain of the group, he has the power and authority to do what he thinks is best for the group. But with this power, comes his responsibility to always keep everything in place. Every failure committed, whether by him or another, is subjected to fall on his hands. It is only through his leading abilities that the group stands.

Phoebe Eirene P. Dy - the Senior Team Leader, Researcher, and Writer

Luscious Strawberry Short Cake”

Sweets! She loves them! And what’s fantastic about it is the sweetness starts in her. From her sweet face comes her sweet eyes, from her sweet smile comes her sweet tooth; this girl is definitely a sweet one — sweet food for a sweet girl. Lovely, isn’t it?

A hero without a right hand would not be a hero at all. In our case, she is the right hand, or might as well name it as the sidekick of the group. She assists, supports, and helps the captain in leading and organizing the group. She is benevolent and bashful, but once asked to talk becomes prudent with words.

Charlene M. Manalang - the Junior Writer, Interviewer and Researcher

“Red Hot Chili”

She is a valiant woman who would savor every lasting taste of spicy foods. She’s undeniably a true Bicolana — carrying the spicy banner of the famous Bird Eye’s Chili or Siling Labuyo in Filipino.  This Siling labuyo (Capsicum frutescens) is a small but very hot pepper common in the country.

She is a pioneer writer in the DPSA learning challenge since their freshmen year. She is known for being an eloquent speaker and a natural interviewer. She authored the group’s team profile, community profile and contributed in the write-ups and researches of the study. She is a spontaneous girl who would do whatever it takes to make her job right.

Ian Jonathan V. Ombao - the Junior Writer, Researcher and Video editor

“Lip Smacking Fresh Seafood”

Exotic sea food are what makes this nice guy an exotic one too. The inevitable experience of these seafood delicacies is what makes him feel good and look good. He even says that if he were to die today, the last thing he would do is to reminisce the lasting taste of fresh seafood.

He is a nice guy who knows it all and does it all right. Ask him about anything, may it be about economics, mathematics, science, technology, history, religion or language; he will always have an extensive answer and an additional illustration to further explain the topic. He is not only known for being a good writer, but also a good artist. He helps in editing videos, pictures, and designs needed for the study.

Kristi Maria Dominique L. Aguilar - the Junior Writer, Researcher, Videographer and Video editor

 “Appetizing Savory Lasagna”

Appetizing savory lasagna — the only food she would eat everyday of her life. Nothing can compare to the outstanding blend of vegetables, sweet tomato, and sharp cheese that makes memories of wonderful lasagna last for far longer than the moment of eating.

She is the all-around junior girl who contributes to almost every aspect of the study; the technicalities, the write-ups, and the documentation. Her write-ups are commendable, her videos and photographs are clear and logical, and her editing is accurate. She is kind and lovable, but be careful not to get her soft-heart frantic 'cause you won’t like it when she’s mad.

Daniel John A. Nadal - the Junior Graphic Designer, Web Artist, and Video Editor

Finger- Licking Buttered-chicken”

After a hard day’s work, a fresh juicy marinated drumstick will surely replace your dead beat mood with a satisfying tender feeling from the best aroma and guaranteed flavor in every bite of this chicken.

He is one of the assets of the team for having his red lips and dazzling eyes, but that’s not what makes him special. Something indispensable in this guy is that he works best under pressure. He usually works late after drinking coffee when his mind has already loosened up. He works for long late hours, but always comes up with a tremendous output.

Vicente C. Morano III - the Junior Graphic Designer, Web Artist, and Video Editor

“Ghiotto Pasta Italiana”

Italian pastas make this guy go “Oooooh!” It’s what makes his world go round — the texture, the color and the flavor of juicy tomatoes just makes it perfect anytime of the day. Italian pastas usually play with herbs; just similar to what this guy does when he plays around with us. He says it’s his way of adding more flavor and fun to our team.

He is very enthusiastic when it comes to technicalities. He loves to edit, design, make layouts, and spend long spans of time in front of the monitor. The computer is his number one best friend. He is very sympathetic, but also very tricky. Just like a child, he is always full of shenanigans and is always joking around. So better watch out for him because his tricks are unbearable.

Carl Andre B. Bongalos - the Sophomore Graphic Designer, Web Artist and Web Expert

 “Mouth Watering Pepperoni Pizza”

The cheesiness of the delectable taste of the thick crust pepperoni pizza makes this guy feel like he’s in heaven — drooling over the pizza while saying on the top of his mind that his heart belongs to the pizza. There’s nothing better than enjoying a cheesy thick crust pepperoni pizza while treasuring each moment until each bite lasts.

He is an expert in web designing, web lay-outing, sketching and in making the site as productive and innovative as possible. He is the youngest and the only sophomore in the team which makes him a very unique and exceptional member. He is very determined to win the contest that he’s already claiming the victory that awaits us— loud and proud!

Jonathan C. Briones - the Team Coach

“Gorgeous Pork Tenderloin Barbecue”

Different from the common fast-food dishes, this pork tenderloin barbecue has an incredible amount of smoking, salting, barbecuing and spit-roasting going on – a really intelligent cooking famous for Filipinos all over the world. The sweet, salty, and not-so-tangy flavor of the pork and the sauce itself is the reason for its prominence in the country; whether for the rich or the poor it’ll always be as delicious as ever.

He is very creative and knowledgeable — a vocal man who always has something conventional to say. He won’t lie to you; He’ll tell you straight. And when he doesn’t like it, “Weengk” he goes. Although in his 20’s, he acts and appears like a high school student with his vanity shots, funny jokes and weird but cool suggestions. He works as the director of the team selecting which angles to take, which photos to use, and which choreography to be followed. All hail the awesomeness of the great “Jonatz Beiber”!

Catherine Q. Ramos, the Team Coach
“Enticing Chocolate Enrobed Brownie Cake”

She’s the perfect mix for a luscious brownie treat with just the right amount of cocoa, sweet cup of sugar, and teaspoonful flavorful vanilla just like her flexible individuality; she can be your angel in disguise---only when she’s in the mood. If not, be ready with a meticulous critique you’d ever regret to have met.

The sidekick of Ms. Perfectionist, she’s Little Miss Sunshine who accompanied the group to Daet during their food trip. The one who constantly checks for the blog’s progress, don’t dare show her nasty outputs when she’s not in the mood, for just like the smallest vague details of the blog, she’ll never think twice pinching you with her “baduy-hindi ko type” comment.

Nelia F. Hernandez, the Team Coach

“Healthy and Hearty Chicken Noodle Soup”

Don’t get daunted by its cooking time, it’s all in the flavor. Once you taste it, bet every moment you’d savor. It’s healthy, hearty and easy made from chicken bones of whole chicken, with almost 50 minutes to simmer.

Just like Ma’am Nel as we call her, you sure wouldn’t want to miss her spicy exciting comments regarding your final output. Once you hear them, you’ll get the hang of every little magical feeling in her words. Add the carrots, celery and onions, it’ll only get better. By the way, she introduced the video blogging venture to the team, and monitored every tiny bit of the progress Team Dinailan can offer. With the Big Three (Ma’am Jo, Ma’am Cathy and her), everything’s coming to place.

Joretze S. Carandang - the Team Moderator

“Smooth and Silky Belgian Chocolate Mousse”

A chocoholic’s dream! The luscious, soft, billowy, creamy texture given to chocolate by folding in whipped cream and Swiss meringue is absolute heaven for this lady. Pure, delicate and exquisitely given away — a love of a wife compared to the blend of Mousse au Chocolat. I’d say these two are a perfect match. Complementing each other with nothing but bittersweet lingers in every touch.

This team wouldn’t stand without intelligence — this team wouldn’t stand without her. Excluding the team captain and team coach, she’s the over-all head of the group. Just like a manager, she appoints tasks to each member and assures they present it as wanted. She’s a perfectionist, and if in reality, she doesn’t like it, better be sure to make it as faultless as possible or get ready for her “double yucky” remark.

Sulpicio C. Alferez III - the School Principal

“Ginataang Gulay na Laing a.k.a Natong”

People always refer to Bicolanos as people who can't live without two main ingredients in their food the famous Siling Labuyo and the coconut milk called Gata. This favorite delicacy of our beloved principal has both. As bold and responsible a principal he is, so is he as a Proud Bicolano gratefully patronizing the “Oragon” factor of a Bicolano dish.

In a school, there are students. Where there are students, teachers are there as well. Where there are teachers, a principal is sure to be present. The team’s core dynamic is our principal alone. The everyday journey of this team in brainstorming, planning, writing, interviewing, editing, designing, uploading and every other brain wracking activity possible would not push through without this man’s consent. Despite all the headaches, sleepless nights, hangovers, and late meals, we humbly thank him for making everything in our blog possible.
