Methodology

BUILDING THE TEAM

Brainstorming was our first launch as a team.  We went to a series of activities to come up with a good topic. After rigid research, our decision was to have Dinailan as our blog entry. The group considered the topic due to its rarity, since even some Bicolanos don’t have any knowledge as to how and what it is made of.

With the final concept in mind, tasks were distributed with two main teams - the writing and the technical team.  Abbas Villalon, Charlene Manalang and Phoebe Dy were in-charge of the interviews and writing. Carl Bongalos, Daniel Nadal and Vicente Morano III were in the technical team. Ian Ombao and Nikki Aguilar were part-time writers and technical editors. The team was spearheaded by Phoebe Dy and Abbas Villalon.  They monitor and give tasks to the members of the group. They also constantly report updates to Ms. Joretze Carandang, Ms. Nelia Hernadez, Mr. Jonathan C. Briones and Ms. Catherine Q. Ramos - the mentors of the team.

Contents of our video blog were edited using Microsoft Word, videos with Corel Video Studio and Pro Show Producer while the pictures were edited using Picasa, Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop. To apply some animations on our blog, we used Adobe After Effects, Adobe Flash Professional and Java Scripts.

IN SEARCH FOR THE BEST  DINAILAN

As we, ourselves, have no idea as to how Dinailan is made, a food trip was scheduled. The travel took 2 to 3 hours, and while on trip, we were both busy eating and thinking Dinailan.

MEET - UP AND INTERVIEW WITH LOCALS

Both excited and exhausted, we started interviewing locals about how they have known  Dinailan as a staple food. We also had interviews with people like Kagawad Efren Tagala and Jacinto Norte (Barangay San Roque, Mercedes, Camarines Norte), Hon. Lorenzo A. Rayos, Barangay Captain (Barangay Siete, Mercedes, Camarines Norte) and Mr. Nelson Ngo (Bagasbas, Daet, Camarines Norte). They contributed most of the data  needed for this video blog.
